Laptop Fun
I've recently just got a brand new laptop! (: The Toshiba Portege M9oo (I just have to bold it la. New laptop leh. Hee.) Got it a 2 days back at this Sitex fair @ Expo. It was also this same fair where I met Rong. I think she was shopping for a harddisk/software or something. (:
I almost couldn't get the laptop coz my parents and I went at the last minute on the last day of the fair to get it. Like, it was the last 20 minutes or something of the fair and we just got in and were still walking around the place, looking at stuff. When we finally decided on this model at one of the Harvey Norman - Toshiba stalls, we were told there was no more stock of the model and was recommended a cheaper model. -.- Luckily there was another Harvey Norman - Toshiba stalls around, and it was one that still had stock of the model (:
The laptop cost $1599. The promotions/price-slashing were rather crazy, I guess. I went on the very first day of the fair and it was going for $1999, $1799 for students, without Harvey Norman throwing in so many freebies. But on the last day, it was slashed by 200 dollars, @ $1599 for students, and with much more freebies.
Got a total of 9 free items from the promos and stuff Harvey Norman threw in (The first four came were given via Toshiba's promotion, the next few after that were all thrown in by Harvey N.) :
1.2GB Ram Upgrade worth $98
2.Microsoft Office Home & Student worth $149
3.Warranty Extension for 2nd & 3rd year worth $189
4.Norman Security Suite
5.Optical Mouse
6.Laptop Cooler
7.Laptop Cleaning Kit
8.Earpiece for Laptop
9.8GB Memory Card
((:
I guess I would have had to wait longer for this laptop if there wasnt this fair and most importantly, to my parents, the 0% interest credit card payment thingy specially for the fair -.-
I'm off to try out the laptop! (Actually I already am trying it out. Blogged this using the laptop lol. (: )

I'm rooting for feb 2010! (:
I dont know what she's so jealous about.
All I want is a laptop. Something, to quote her, "she never had when she was my age."
She whined, kicked up a fuss, and complained about the same thing when my parents got me a PSP and iPod for my birthday sometime ago, how "she never had those things when she was my age", etc.
This time, I expected, was no different if she knew I had already told my parents about the new Mac that was out and the promotions going on at Suntec along with it. Thus I didnt want to tell her, and made my parents keep it a secret from her. But my mom eventually spilled the beans as she was about to leave the house and as I expected, she threw a tantrum.
She claims of how, yet again, "she didnt have it when she was my age", how "I dont need a laptop, how old I am only", "it's too expensive for a 13-year-old", etc. Bah. Pot calling the kettle black. She's gonna be chalking up huge expenses when she leaves for her studies, at least 100k+, and she's already starting to buy clothes for "the different weather conditions there". Right.
She's also gonna be getting a laptop, for her studies.
Bah.

Just came back from Drama. Literally just. Actually ended at 5.30, but the exco and crew had to stay back for a meeting with the Director to discuss all the little loop-holes and stuff, such as the which cues when, the sets, etc. So ended at around 7/8pm in the end, considering the time I had to wait for my bus T.T Lucky there's no tuition for me today. (I norm do)
Had to go for physio today, and had a short clinical appt. so went to school late (:
And I chose such a good time to butt into the lessons - Computer Studies. There's basically no more projects, and coincidentally, the last Com Science we're gonna have for this whole year (School ends next Wed for us) so it was just playplayplay throughout the whole 2 periods! (100 minutes) We were allowed to go on the net and do whatever we wanted, and for me, Facebooking (:
School ends pretty early these few days, due to some Secondary 4 activities, and thus right after CS, there was a little bit of Geography and school ended (:
Went for the LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) workshop straight after that, which is an academy that started offering speech examinations to the public in the 1880s and since then these examinations have been refined and developed into a comprehensive system of performance evaluation, which is internationally recognised [as quoted from Wikipedia with slight changes] which prepared us for the oral examinations we were gonna take on some end November.
And if you were thinking that LAMDA is something like the norm oral examinations, you're so wrong! It's so high-class and atas, and we need to know so many things, stuff like visual aids, note cards and whatever. I may be stretching the point abit, but yeah.

Tuesdays With Morrie
Well, today's a Sunday, which means another week has come to a close. Have not been doing much last week, still resting at home, or in this case, my grandmother's house. I was unable to go back to school even though I think I can now, after so much rest and stuff, because the exams were still going on. Heh. :P
So you could say it was pretty fruitless. I really had nothing much to do, there was nothing much I needed to do anyway.
But now I have. I think.
I was snooping looking around my sister's bedroom today, in search of something to do, and found this. (She was out with her godmother picking out a good luggage today -- she's going off to Australia somewhere in Feb next year for her studies.)
And you could say it was worth the read, through its simple, yet elegant cover, it tells the true story of Morrie, an old professor, who's suffering from Lou Gehgrig's disease, through Albom's recount of Schwartz lectures, quotes, experiences, and conversations.
There's many quotes in the book, such as,
"The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn't work, don't buy it."
"...the truth is...if you accept that you can die at any time--then you might not be as ambitious as you are."
Off to the NLB! -.-
